It's been a rough decade for Rayman fans. Outside of some mobile releases, there hasn't been a proper Rayman game since Rayman Legends in 2013. While other platformer mascots are getting games, Rayman has been well and truly left in the dust - but that could all be about to change.

As Ubisoft celebrates 30 years of Rayman, and teases that a new game is in the works, it's claimed that we could get a release much sooner than it has been suggested. According to Insider Gaming, a Rayman remake is "tentatively" targeting a late 2026 launch window.

We Could Get A New Rayman Game In 2026

According to sources, development on the remake - codenmamed Steambot - has been going "incredibly well". With that in mind, it sounds like that late 2026 release date could be a reality, even if Ubisoft is keeping quiet on whether or not the project actually exists.

Insider Gaming has spoken about this rumoured remake previously. Last year, it claimed that it was being developed by Ubisoft Milan (the same team behind Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle), with some devs from Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown being moved over to the project.

Officially, none of this has been confirmed. Ubisoft had commented on the initial reports by saying that a new Rayman game was in the "exploration phase". Now, as we celebrate 30 years of Rayman, the official line is much the same, with Ubisoft saying that it is currently working on “the future of Rayman”, but that we shouldn't expect any news any time soon.

Assuming that the rumoured remake is real, then it will be interesting to see if that project and the "future of Rayman" are two separate games, or if everyone is talking about the same thing here. According to Insider Gaming, there are "preliminary plans to develop Rayman 4", but this depends on the success of the remake. So, I suppose Rayman fans had better turn up for that.

In the meantime, there are a whole bunch of fan projects to keep the community going.
